Equanimity
Regulate. Breathe. Move. Ride.
Understanding the connection between breathing, posture, movement and the nervous system in riders.
What is Equanimity?
A framework for rider awareness, movement and regulation.
Equanimity describes a state of calm awareness and adaptable balance — the ability to remain responsive rather than reactive.
Within riding, the Equanimity framework explores how breathing, posture, movement and nervous system responses influence stability, coordination, tension and connection in the saddle.
Rather than forcing position, this work helps riders develop greater awareness, adaptability and feel through a deeper understanding of their body and movement patterns.

Regulate for Riders
Breathe Better, Ride Better
An introduction to the connection between breathing, posture, movement and nervous system regulation in riders.
This webinar may help riders who:
feel tense, stiff or braced in the saddle
struggle to truly relax despite trying
notice instability, asymmetry or loss of coordination under pressure
want to better understand how their body influences their riding
Together we’ll explore the links between:
breathing patterns and rider tension
nervous system responses and regulation
posture, stability and movement habits
awareness and adaptable movement strategies
This is not about forcing position.
It is about understanding the rider’s body more clearly — so movement can begin to feel more adaptable, connected and sustainable.

About Joanna
Physiotherapist. Pilates instructor. Rider.
My background combines physiotherapy, movement education, breathing work and rider experience, with a particular interest in how the body adapts under pressure, tension and instability.
Equanimity developed through a growing curiosity about why riders often struggle with consistency, coordination and connection despite technical instruction and training.
This approach aims to help riders better understand their movement, develop greater body awareness and build more sustainable confidence and control in the saddle.
The Equanimity Framework
The Equanimity framework explores how regulation, movement awareness, coordination and adaptability influence rider function and performance.
Rather than chasing fixed position, the process focuses on helping riders develop greater awareness, connection and automatic, sustainable control in the saddle.
“You couldn’t ask for a better qualified person to do this.”
Jo is an experienced respiratory and musculoskeletal physiotherapist, Equipilates coach and rider who genuinely understands the connection between body, breathing and riding.
