Movement, Riders and the Human - Horse Connection
Finding Equanimity: Why I Created This Program
After nearly 24 years as a physiotherapist, I began to realise that breathing, movement, pain, stress and nervous system regulation cannot truly be separated. This is the story behind Equanimity — a new approach shaped by physiotherapy, horses, nature and the search for calmer, more adaptable humans.
Why the Nervous System Matters
Discover how your nervous system influences movement, posture, and coordination, both on the ground and in the saddle. Many riders focus on strength and flexibility, but the autonomic nervous system plays a crucial role in shaping how muscles engage, breathing supports movement, and timing and balance naturally emerge. By understanding and supporting nervous system regulation, you can move with greater ease, fluidity, and connection, improving your performance and your partnership with your horse. Learn practical strategies to notice tension, release stress, and retrain your body for coordinated, efficient, and confident movement.
A Year of Change, Courage, and Coming Home…
This year has been one of quiet but significant change.
Alongside starting my PG Cert in Equine Assisted Therapy, I made the decision to step away from the NHS after 23 years, creating space to reconnect with the work that first drew me to physiotherapy. Through study, reflection, and hands-on practice, I rediscovered my niche in the horse–human interaction and began building a business that truly reflects those values.
From restarting Pilates for Riders and offering 1:1 physiotherapy, to running workshops and welcoming new horses into our lives, this year has been about alignment… between learning, life, and purpose.
As I look ahead, I feel grounded, optimistic, and excited about what’s to come.

Introducing “C” — My Case Study Rider
This case study explores how hippotherapy can help riders living with chronic pain and hypermobility regain comfort, confidence, and control in movement. Through the rhythm and responsiveness of the horse, we uncover how equine-assisted therapy can ease tension, improve alignment, and support long-term pain management through awareness and gentle, adaptive movement.
A New Chapter - Equine Assisted Therapy in Practice
This course has been an incredible opportunity to combine my long-standing interests in movement, the human–equine relationship, and therapeutic practice. It brings together everything I love — horses, science, and the art of helping people move and feel better.
