Rider Performance Plan
Starts 11th January 2027
Move well. Breathe well. Ride well.
Equanimity Rider Performance Plan.
An 8-week, online, physiotherapy-led, rider performance programme.
Your horse isn't the only athlete in the partnership…
The way you breathe, move and balance your body influences how you ride — and how your horse responds to you.
But finding the time, motivation and right guidance to work on yourself can be difficult when you're juggling riding, work and everyday life.
The programme combines physiotherapy expertise, practical movement sessions and ongoing support to help you develop greater body awareness, move with more ease and build a better connection with your horse.
The Benefits for You as a Rider
Move with greater ease
Develop the mobility, strength, control and body awareness you need as a rider.
Understand your breathing
Explore how breathing patterns influence tension, posture and movement, without forcing your breath.
Make progress with support
Build consistency with professional guidance, regular check-ins and a supportive community of riders.
Real progress happens when you put it into practice.
You don't need another list of exercises to squeeze into an already busy life. You need a way to make meaningful changes, understand your body and build consistency — with the right support along the way.
The Equanimity Rider Performance Plan combines physiotherapy expertise, practical movement and breathing awareness to help you turn what you learn into lasting habits.
And you won't be doing it alone.
You'll be part of a small group of riders, each working towards their own goals, sharing experiences and learning together.
With weekly live sessions, opportunities to ask questions and regular guidance, you'll have the support and accountability to keep moving forward.
Introducing the Equanimity Framework
A clear pathway from awareness to application.
The Equanimity Framework is the foundation of the Rider Performance Plan. It brings together breathing, movement, body awareness and motor control in a progressive approach designed to help you understand how your body works — and how to use that understanding in the saddle.
Across six connected stages, you'll learn to regulate, identify and isolate movement patterns, restore foundational control, integrate your movements, build reliable responses and apply what you've learned to your riding.
Each stage builds on the last, helping you develop greater awareness, control and feel, so you can work towards a more harmonious partnership with your horse.
What's included in your eight weeks?
A structured programme, with expert guidance and support at every stage.
Individual guidance
A one-to-one video consultation to explore your goals and identify your priorities.
Weekly movement
One live online class per week and a recorded session to practise in your own time.
Daily Equanimity Moments
Short audio practices to build body awareness and consistency in just a few minutes a day.
Ongoing support
Group connection, opportunities to ask questions and check-ins to reflect on your progress.
Is the Equanimity Rider Performance Plan for you?
You love your horse and want to give your partnership the best possible chance to thrive. But perhaps you sometimes feel that your own body is holding you back.
This programme could be for you if you:
Feel stiff, restricted or uncomfortable when riding.
Struggle with balance, asymmetry or coordinating your body in the saddle.
Notice that tension, stress or your breathing affects how you ride.
Want to improve your strength, mobility and body awareness as a rider.
Know that working on yourself could make a difference, but find it difficult to stay consistent alone.
Want expert guidance and the encouragement of a supportive group of like-minded riders.
You don't need to be a competitive rider, exceptionally fit or particularly flexible. You simply need to be curious about your body and willing to explore how small, purposeful changes can support you and your horse.
The Person Behind Equanimity
I’m Jo, a Chartered Physiotherapist with over 24 years of experience in respiratory and musculoskeletal care, and a lifelong horse owner.
One of the things I love most about my work is helping people discover that movement doesn't always need to be complicated. So often, small changes in how we breathe, move or use our bodies can make a real difference to how we feel and what we're able to do.
With my background in physiotherapy, breathing pattern work and Pilates, I help people understand their bodies and find practical ways to move with greater ease, control and confidence.
As an Equipilates™ Biomechanics Trainer, I'm particularly passionate about helping riders recognise how their own movement influences their horse. Through Equanimity, I bring together my clinical experience and love of horses to help riders discover what works for them, make meaningful changes and build the confidence to carry those changes into their everyday riding.

The programme combines a weekly live online movement session, a recorded session to practise in your own time, short daily Equanimity Moments and regular opportunities to check in, ask questions and reflect on your progress. Equanimity brings together my experience as a Chartered Physiotherapist, breathing pattern practitioner and Pilates instructor within a structured approach to rider performance. -
No. The programme focuses on you and your body, so you can take part from home without your horse being present. The aim is to help you develop skills and awareness that you can then explore in your riding.
